Garden Route Game Lodge
If you enjoy the bushveld, game drives and wild animals, then this blog will shed some light on why we recommend this particular venue for anything from Weddings, to Bithday Parties, Year-End Functions and any other form of group function.
26 September 2015 we supplied a Dj and Equipment for the wedding of Tim and Michelle, a Canadian couple that booked their wedding at the Garden Route Game Lodge. The ceremony took place at the pool area which offers a spectacular scenic view of the plattuae and distant bush veld. Upon arriving, it was touch and go with the rain that kept shedding a few drops and then stopped, so the fearful decision of moving inside or keeping the ceremony otside, was tossed back and forth like a tennis match. After setting up outside, we had a few scares when the it seemed like the rain was rearing its head on this beautiful setting. Fortunately we were in the clear by the time the guests started arriving – you can only imagine the releive from the Dj side not having to rush the equipment isnide if it were to come down..
The bride entered the ceremony area over the pool on a bridge that connects to the deck where the ceremony took place – truly an amzing way to enter your wedding ceremony! Everyting on the ceremony side went smooth as silk. The guests departed for photos and canapes which was right next to the bar area outide on the deck. We supplied a portable PA system for the background music to keep guests entertined while the photoshoot was taking place.
Moving over to the reception are which was on the other side of the property (our dj certainly worked for his money having to carry equipment from the ceremony area to the reception hall – lol).
Entering the reception venue, you across a beautiful bridge over a pond walking into the reception area of the building. Guests were met with a signing book where they had to write their wishes and comments to the newly weds. A clear and well spaced open area is the feeling you get when you walk in to the reception area – tables were well spaced and the dancefloor area was nice and spacious! The smokers area was situated outside on the deck and there you are met with an AMAZING panoramic view of the rest of the resort. You can literally sit and watch the elephants walk about in the distance. This gives you such a sense of relaxation while connecting with mother earth and the animals. Many of their guests travelled from across the world and I can only imagine what a treat this setting must have been for them!
Everything at the ceremony ran incredibly smooth, the speeches were great and humurous! As for the food, it was probanly the best food we have ever eaten at a wedding, and that takes a lot considering the amount of wedding venues we have done events at and the different types of food we get to eat in the process – they certaonly get 10 our of 10 from our side!
The guests enjoyed a rocking reception party with a variety of music from golden oldies, to the latest radio pop music hits and also red hot club remixes which they absolutely loved!
We certainly recommend Garden Route Game Lodge as one of the top wedding venues in the Garden Route – just keep in ond, you will probably have to book the entire lodge for your guests to stay over as the venue is about 45km's drive from Mossel Bay.
A big thank you to Tim & Michelle – we wish you guys all the best for the future and may be blessed and embrace your entire journey as a married couple! Also a big shout out to the hosting and kitchen team of Garden Route Game Lodge, you guys were really fantastic!
